NGC-5907
NGC-5907 edge-on galaxy in Draco
NGC-5907 is an edge-on galaxy located in the constellation of Draco the Dragon. It is an outstanding example of a "flat" galaxy (edge-on, with NO central bulge). This galaxy is located about 3 degrees south of the 3rd magnitude star 12 Draconis, and very near M-102. NGC-5907 lies about 50 million light years from Earth and is 150,000 light years in diameter. It was discovered in 1788 by Sir William Herschel.
This image, acquired on June 14, 2020, is a 40 minute integration of 4 minute exposures through the Celestron C-11 at f/2, using the HyperStar III imaging system and the Starlight Express SXVR-H694C color CCD camera, operating at -10 degrees below ambient temperature and binned 1 X 1. Guided, captured and combined using Maxim DL5 Pro. Post processed using PhotoShop CS2, Gradient XTerminator, StarShrink, Carboni's Astro Tools and NoiseWare.
