NGC-5921
NGC-5921, Barred spiral galaxy in Serpens Caput
NGC-5921 is a face-on barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Serpens Caput, about 3 degrees north of the bright globular star cluster M-5. It lies 65 million light years from Earth. It was discovered by Sir William Herschel in 1786.
This image, acquired on July 14, 2012, is a 30 minute integration of 80 second exposures through the Celestron C-11 at f/2, using the HyperStar III imaging system and the Orion STARSHOOT uncooled color CCD camera. Guided, captured and combined using Maxim DL5 Pro. Post processed using Photoshop, Carboni's Astro Tools and NoiseWare.
